It’s a nice idea and all Mums and Dads should want the best for their offspring, but sadly it seems that many modern day parents have taken things just a bit too far. Today’s youngsters are far more spoilt, lazy, and disrespectful than at any time in living memory. Many on western societies are also grossly overweight to the point that it’s affecting their health. Having the brood help out around the home and earn their pocket money (known today as an allowance!), is not cruel, or depriving them of a good childhood. It teaches them that money doesn’t grow on trees and also that things around the home, such as clean clothes, dinners, and a tidy house, don’t just happen. Having a family chore chart is a great idea because it helps bond the family and have them all pitch in to making the home a more interactive place where the members of the household all contribute to family harmony.

In addition to this, the family chore chart also shows your litter just how little they have to do when compared to the parents. That’s right, the family job check list should also have mum and dad displayed and the jobs they have to do in order to run the home. Those parents who are able to say ‘NO’ to the kids when appropriate, and reward them only when it’s warranted, will be raising children that become a credit to them, and that is what you call a successful upbringing. You might also want to add things to the chore chart like ‘play outside for an hour a day’, or other such things that keep them away from the bone-idle upbringing where so many never move too far away from computers, televisions, and mobile devices.
