Predicting Divorce- Not Easy But Possible
Predicting divorce is not an exact science, but researches have been studying whether this is possible. In fact they have found that certain factors tend to predict future divorce better than others, but these rules are not ironclad. They work pretty well over the long run, but they cannot necessarily predict divorce for a particular couple.
Among these factors are the age at marriage. People who marry in their teens are much more likely to divorce than those who wait at least until they are 25 years old. Having sufficient income helps alleviate financial stress, so household income over $50,000 is also an indicator. Another is the presence of children. If a child if born after the 7th month of marriage as opposed to earlier, the couple if more likely to remain married.
