How junk food affects children’s health

Children are often flattered and tempted to the gimmicks of the advertisement on fast food chains of products. They are readily available in delicious taste that triggers the taste buds with its lip smashing taste. Excess usage of junks make children get addicted to the unhealthy taste avoiding the nutritive food stuff existing in the protein diet plan present in fresh fruit and vegetables that are naturally available. Prepacked junks with saturated fat, sugar, salt, calories and preservatives have a worse case developed when it comes to the health condition of children at the earlier age.

Harmful effects of junks in children

Deficiency of nutrients

Craving for junk foods make the body unhealthy with the lack of needful nutrients like proteins, vitamins, minerals, iron, calcium etc that are required to enhance growth, strength and stamina in childhood stage supporting the growing phase. Children get anemic with the lack of adequate iron, vitamin and other growth promoting nutritive supplements. High protein diet can help in regulating children’s anemic condition and to restore needful energy.

The following are the effects of junk food observed in children in their daily routines, disturbing the future development keeping a hold in following a pattern of growth and development leaving the child sick.

  • Quick tiredness,
  • Lack of concentration,
  • Lethargic and laziness in activity,
  • Increased weight,
  • Sluggishness in daily performance, etc…

Diabetes in children

The more sugar and soda added to junks, the more are the chances of acquiring diabetes in the earlier stage of children developing type 2 diabetes that normally is acquired in the late 40’s and above. Insulin secretion is affected, which is responsible to control the sugar level and metabolic activities within the body.

High Blood Pressure

Excess of sodium added to enhance taste in fast foods brings in a change in the level of blood pressure to high causing cracks and split in walls of blood vessel. This results in the lipoproteins to repair the walls with the cholesterol containing substance thus raising the level of cholesterol in the blood.

Obesity and related problems

Food including saturated fat like butter, ghee, oil, vanaspati and other such re-cooked fat producing food raises the level of cholesterol in the blood. This may perhaps leads to dyslipidemia, the case when LDL and Triglycerides level is oddly high than the limits paving way to risks of coronary heart problems at the younger age. Children grow obese who tend to spend very little of their time on physical activities on sporting leading to mental stress and emotional imbalance.
